What will it take?

Are you tired of hearing that “paintball is on the decline?”, or “paintball is dead”? We are. The SGMA reports say one thing, event attendance says another. While we can all agree that paintball is not as active as it was in 2005, we can also agree that people are playing, just not as many.

Tippman Scenario Paintball

Today’s discussion focuses in on this touchy subject. How can we, as paintball community members revive paintball? What are we missing? Is it television and video games, or exciting fields and marketing tie ins? Grass roots marketing, or commericial advertising?

What will it take to get paintball back on top?

New Paintball PlayersNew paintball players getting ready for the first game

Throughout the last couple years I have been looking for ways to give back to the game that has given me so much. ProPaintball.com is derived from that need to contribute to and build our sport. However, we cater primarily to an audience that is already playing. About a year ago we embarked on a project to help grow and introduce the game of paintball to new paintball players. I will be the first to admit that the journey was long, and at times trying, but the ultimate result was worth it. Here is why:

Each time we mention paintball, or set up a recreational game, we run into the same group of questions — “What is paintball?”, “Does it hurt?”, and “How do I play?”. With this in mind, I began searching for some sort of guide that I could email to my friends, family, and those interested. We as a sport needed a educational tool that was free, didn’t require much time, and helped provide the information new players need to enjoy their first game of paintball.

Believe it or not, such a tool did not exist. So, with the help of several friends and the generous support of Empire Paintball and Giant Paintball, we created the guide. As the saying goes, “If you build it, they will come”. Right?

How to Paintball video guide series

Our creation is a 3-part educational paintball video series designed to teach new and prospective players how to paintball. Each video runs approximately 3 minutes long and covers everything from the paintball basics, to planning for your first trip, what to bring, and what to expect at the field. We have also built in several tips including ways to save money (or in some cases, play free paintball), game related tactics and important safety concepts.

We ask that you take a minute and explore these How to Paintball videos. Then, SHARE these videos with your friends. Plug them on facebook, message boards, email, and place them on your field and store websites. If you don’t own a field or store, perhaps you can suggest your favorite paintball company include them on their websites.

We hope you utilize these videos as the important instructional tools they are. Please, help spread the message and grow the sport. Share Paintball with your friends!

When sharing the videos, please refer prospective players back to this page: http://www.propaintball.com/how-to-paintball-guide/

This is awsome!

Check out this innovative launcher called the TKL-01. Instead of CO2 or HPA, this device runs off of a disposable gas cartridge which is used by contractors in their brad trim guns. Device is capable of firing 1200 times between cylinder exchanges. Cost for the launcher alone is listed at $275.00.

Tankless Technology has been in development since 2005 in an effort to improve the paintball and airsoft markets. The Catshack spoke to owner/proprietor Everson Silva on his company and its founding. According to Everson his company was founded in 2010 when the technology was finally tested and approved in prototype paintball markers, pump guns and launchers eliminating co2 and answering the asking for innovation in this area.

Meet Everson Silva, owner and paintball player himself since 2004. As a paintball player himself he was always looking for ways to improve existing products… his thought, make lighter equipment.  One day he came across someone using a nail gun without a compressor. It was then Everson discovered the construction device used a fuel cell capable of driving 1200 nails per canister. Everson immediately made the leap in his own mind … would such a thing be able to drive that many paintballs at 300 fps? Literally the very next day Everson bought a nail gun with a fuel cell and went to work on making some necessary modifications, before long he had it firing paintballs at 450 fps. The technology opened doors into other areas of the market but for now Everson’s company is producing rocket launchers due to the high demand for the hardware.

The TKL – 01 is the next generation of launchers.

It’s a light, powerful, reliable machine using a small canister filled with a combustible material (fuel cell), to provide fuel to a combustion engine which burns the fuel to generate a high pressure pulse, propelling the foam rocket or the paintballs inside of the grenade shells attached to the muzzle.

The combustion generates the same power of a Co2 or Compressed air, and it is 10 times smaller and light. (No more heavy tanks attached to the gun).

With this gun, the “Tankbuster” can go towards the tanks, shooting the opponents that get in his way, using the grenade shells;

Bust the bunkers and tanks shooting rockets on them.
